Hazleton WIOA and EARN Programs

In 2015, EDSI began operating the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) for adults and dislocated workers. This program will emphasize the new WIOA goals of "no sequence of service" for customers and an increased focus on the employer base.  Career Pathways Plans, On-the-Job Training (OJT) and Individual Training Accounts (ITA) will be implemented.

The Employment, Advancement and Retention Network (EARN) program began in July 2010 at the Hazleton CareerLink location. The EARN program serves the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) population of Luzerne County. The purpose of EARN is to address the needs of welfare and low income individuals with serious barriers to gaining and maintaining employment by providing comprehensive case management, remediation, skills training, work activities, job placement and retention activities. Work activities in EARN include unsubsidized employment, subsidized employment and community service. The office is located within the Hazleton CareerLink and is funded by the Luzerne-Schuylkill Workforce Investment Board.
