Healthcare Career Connections is an eight-week career readiness program designed to prepare high school graduates (ages 17-21) for full-time employment in the healthcare industry. Students enrolled in the program have passed a drug test, secured all the necessary clearances for healthcare employment, completed HIPPA training and are BLS CPR certified.
During the first four weeks, students are engaged in discovering career pathways in Dental Assisting, EMT/Fire Academy, Health Related Technologies, Health Information Technology, and Medical/Clinical Assisting. Additionally, students are given skills assessments while learning workplace skills, participating in mock interviews and preparing a professional resume.
During the second half of the program, students are engaged in a paid work experience with the goal of gaining an understanding of the inner workings of a healthcare office. Participants will work 20 hours per week and be paid $9.00 per hour.
