EDSI’s approach to curriculum design, development, implementation and evaluation is rooted in evidence-based theories and instructional design models. This strategic and data-driven approach to curriculum is based around the following theories:

  • ADDIE Instructional Design Model – 5 phases of development: Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate.
  • Kirkpatrick Evaluation Model– begins with thinking about the desired result and guides curriculum development by evaluating training on 4 levels.
  • Malcolm Knowles and Adult Learning Theory – centers on the finding that adults are self-directed and need to take responsibility for decisions and focuses on 4 core principles of adult learning.
  • Webb’s Depth of Knowledge – centers on 4 levels of cognitive demand and ensures we identify the required levels associated with specific desired outcomes to build effective curriculum.
  • Multi-Modal Instruction – ensures that instructional materials, strategies, activities etc. are provided in more than one learning modality.
